Seha Announces ‘New Chief Executive Officer from Cleveland Clinic at SKMC’

Seha announced the appointment of Dr. Tej Maini as Chief Executive Officer at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) managed by Cleveland Clinic as of 22 October 2009.

Dr. Maini served as Senior Vice President of Global Solutions at the Cleveland Clinic, and is very familiar with SKMC and chaired the SKMC Steering Committee for the last year. SKMC is owned and operated by Seha, the Abu Dhabi Health Services company which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi

Dr. Maini received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India. Following his internship and residency in Surgery at Boston City Hospital, Boston, MA, he completed a fellowship in Nutrition at the New England Deaconess Hospital, Surgery, Boston, MA and a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston, MA.

H.E. Mr. Saif Bader Al Qubaisi, Chairman of Seha, stated:

Dr. Maini’s excellence in medicine has been recognized by his peers and the healthcare community both nationally and internationally.”

Dr. Scott Strong, who served as SKMC CEO for the past year, is returning to the U.S. to resume his surgical practice at Cleveland Clinic. He brought to SKMC a level of expertise and leadership that has been a valuable asset to the organization. Under his leadership, both patient access and quality outcomes successfully increased. In addition to that, more beds and services to SKMC were added and a transition of clinical operations was witnessed. Although Dr. Strong is leaving Abu Dhabi, he will continue to work closely with the leadership of SKMC as a member of the Steering Committee.
