The Kuwait Laboratory Technology Conference and Exhibition opened at the Radisson SAS Hotel, yesterday morning under the patronage of health minister Dr. Helal Al-Sayer. The two-day event, which concludes later today, is a comprehensive multi-themed conference and exhibition for the laboratory industry.
Delivering the inaugural address on the minister’s behalf, Dr. Qaies Al-Duwairi, the Assistant Undersecretary of Medical Services Affairs, said “the Laboratory Technology Conference focuses on the role of laboratories, scientific research into diseases, forensic medicine, life sciences and the preparation of medicines.
Dr. Al-Duwairi called for support for all those working in medical research in Kuwait, saying, “Kuwait should be a forerunner among countries; since we are responsible for our country we should do our best to give it and our citizens the best solutions, as well as we being prepared for the latest developments that could happen in the health field.
He concluded his address by welcoming all the foreign delegates and high-level participants attending the event, including “all our visitors from the GCC countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and all the ambassadors whom are here today.
The conference and fair covers a wide range of subjects related to science and technology used in medical and non-medical laboratories, as well as their management. It also provides scientists, technicians, laboratory managers and others involved in research with the latest information about instruments, applications and techniques.
Abdulaziz Al-Enzi, the Secretary General of Kuwait Nursing Association and Assistant Secretary General of the Arab Nursing Union said during his address at the event, “The whole world is talking nowadays about the quality of the health field, in view of the fact that quality depends on the sort or the type, so we shouldn’t ignore this aspect. If we want to develop new laboratories, we should have high quality materials that make us proud of technology in Kuwait.
Jamal Omran, International Marketing Manager for Promedia, the event’s organizers, said, “The reason behind holding this event is to show what’s available in various kinds of laboratories, showing what medicine faces these days in regard to challenging new diseases like Swine flu.
He continued, “the conference invited laboratories and research scientists from Kuwait, GGC countries, Arab countries and Western countries.” The event is supported by the MoH, Kuwait Heart Association, Electron Microscopy Unite Kuwait University’s Faculty of Sciences, and the Kuwait Nursing Association.
