Most Workers Benefited from HAAD Safety in The Heat Program

The – Abu Dhabi (), has said that over 465 companies, employing more than 800,000 workers at over 4,500 worksites and 1,800 labour camp sites benefited from its successful “Safety in the Heat” campaign in summer 2009 across the UAE.

The awareness campaign carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour aimed at increasing awareness of heat stress and prevention of heat illness amongst employers and workers in the capital and aimed to decrease heat related illnesses in the emirate during the summer.

, CEO of HAAD, said: “Improving work conditions by implementing correct health and safety measures will not only decrease heat related illnesses but will also improve health and safety standards and ensure the welfare of our workers.” He expressed gratitude Ministry of Labour, Department of Transport, Al – Ain and Abu Dhabi Municipalities, Musanada, ADNOC, BuildSafeUAE, and the construction, manufacturing and other companies for their support. Darren Joubert, Senior Advisor Occupational Health at HAAD, has said that summer 2010 program will engage a greater number of companies.
