Four Arab countries (Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Sudan and Lebanon) accounted for about two-thirds of Jordan’s exports of medicines during the first eight months of 2009, according to statistical report released by the Central Bank of Jordan(CBJ).
The report showed that Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Sudan and Lebanon imported 60.5 percent of the Kingdom’s total exports of pharmaceuticals products.
The value of Jordan’s exports of medicines since January till August of this year stood at JD 213.3 million, down by 11.4 percent compared to JD 240.8 million for the same period last year.
In spite of this decline, medical and pharmaceutical exports remain Jordan’s second biggest exported goods after clothing, said the report.
