Joint Cooperation In The Health Regulation Sector

Officials from the Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA’s) health regulation sector met with members of the Health Authority Abu Dhabi’s (’s) health regulation team to discuss ways to boost joint cooperation between the two authorities.

The meeting which took place recently discussed ways to develop a framework for joint cooperation so as to help raise the standard of provided in the two Emirates-Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The two authorities discussed ways to facilitate licensing procedures for healthcare professionals in both the Emirates. The meeting discussed several issues from professional licensing to procedures for professional assessment as well as electronic assessment for healthcare practitioners.

Dr. Ali Obaid Al Ali, Director, Health Regulation, HAAD provided an overview of the role played by HAAD to regulate the health sector and improve the quality of medical services provided in Abu Dhabi.

The two authorities agreed to cooperate on several regulatory issues including a shared assessment committee for certain specialties like neonatology.

They discussed policies and procedures to deal with medical negligence as well as methods to detect violators and fine them.

They also discussed ways to develop and strengthen their inspection procedures.

The two authorities will sign a MoU highlighting the framework of their joint cooperation.

The attendees of the meeting from HAAD included Dr Ali Obaid Al Ali, Director of Health Regulation, Dr. Omniyat Al Hajri, Manager, Health Professional Licensing, Mr Khalid Mohammed Fulad, Director of Health System Compliance and Dr Jamal Mohd Al Kaabi, Section Head, Hospitals and Clinics Health Audit, Hasna Yousuf Al Balooshi, Section Head of Licensing and Dr Hatem Faraj Al Amere, Section Head Post Graduate Medical Education.

The attendees of the meeting from the DHA health regulation team included Dr Ramadan Ibrahim, Assistant Director of Health Regulation, Marwan Mohammed, Head of Registration and Accreditation section, Dr Mhd Oussama Kayali, Head of Facility Regulation Unit, Ms Tamara Muir, Head of Professional Regulation Unit and Badriya Casares Manuel, Head of Quality Assurance.
