Qatar Health Showcases New Medical Equipment

Qatar Health’s exhibition has participants from more than thirty international and local companies showcasing the latest technologies in home and hospital healthcare, many of which are exhibiting for the first time ever in the Middle East.

Showing a wide range of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment ranging from tele-thermometers to highly sophisticated CT scans, the exhibition is sure to capture the interest of audiences from both within and without the medical field.

Barzan, a medical supplies company, is showcasing the latest laparoscopic device of its kind to be used in the management of colon, pulmonary and gastroenterology diseases. Thamir Fahmi from the company’s medical equipment department said, “The device uses a highly sophisticated luminary range technology for the detection of tumors and is currently in use at Al Khor Hospital.”

A therapeutic machine used for the treatment of sleeping and snoring disorders is also on display. The device which can be used at home, is capable of storing data about a patient’s condition for up to ten years.

Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Radiology Department is transforming its radiology film into a digital system. Barzan is the company supplying HMC with this updated system.

Mohamed Awadh, head of Barzan’s medical equipment department explained the benefits of its equiplment saying, “The digital radiology equipment digitally grabs the X-ray scan through a wireless connection. This significantly reduces the time required for producing a radiology film.”

Amongst a number of similarly state-of-the-art equipment, Al Danah Medical Company is also showing a tele-thermometer for remote measurement of children temperatures. This device is capable of giving highly accurate readings of temperatures.

Mohamed Ragheb, Manager of Nasser Bin Khaled & Sons Medical Equipment Company stated, “We are at the forefront in the development of medical beds used in intensive care units (ICU’s). This new and innovative bed contains air cushions and sensor cells that facilitate patient’s massage and ventilation.” The beds are used at various ICU’s within HMC The company also demonstrated equipment used for strengthening internal and external muscles of traumatic and paralytic patients by massaging of the patient’s body.
