H. H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Umm al-Qaiwain, was updated today by Health Minister Dr. Hanif Hassan on phases of establishing the Federal Health Authority (FHA) and its future plans.
President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has approved a law establishing the FHA that will take over the executive responsibilities of the Ministry of Health The Federal Health Authority will take over responsibility for running hospitals and other health facilities, therapeutic services, medical research, and the development of specialized skills to meet the best international standards. It will also concentrate on raising competitiveness, developing hospitals as accredited teaching facilities, and promoting cooperation and partnerships between public and private healthcare providers. The Ruler was also briefed about plans and programmes devised by the Ministry of Health for upgrading health and medical services in the emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain. The minister told the Ruler that the new Umm Al Qaiwain hospital was nearing completion and would be opened soon.
