Safety and Occupational Health Training

Society of Contractors (OSC), in collaboration with Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Salalah branch, will hold a training course on safety and occupational health in Salalah during the last week of January. Salim al Sheedi, CEO of Society of Contractors (pictured), said: “The aim of organizing the training programme is to educate the sector on the necessities of the implementation of the Ministerial Discussion 286 and to establish a HSE culture in the construction industry.

“It will educate the public about the role played by OSC in the field of occupational health and safety as it believes in the importance of ensuring the safety of the labourers at the different work sites, especially in the construction sector. “The course aims to familiarise participants with the regulatory rules of safety and occupational health measures in the establishments governed by the Omani Labour Law.”

The course also aims to help give perfect evaluation of the risks assessment occurring in the workplace, introducing the most important mechanisms used in the management of sites. Salim said the training course will focus on the duties of supervisors of safety and occupational health, the role of the supervisor, accident investigation and steps to improve control over health and safety matters.
