The National Health Insurance Company – Daman has announced that it will cover medical expenses for work related injuries & illnesses under all its basic and enhanced health insurance plans. This move follows an announcement made recently by the Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (HAAD) which stated that expenses related to the medical treatment for work related injuries shall become part of schedule of services for basic healthcare services.
All Daman members enrolled in new and renewed policies, from the 22nd of March 2010, will be covered for medical expenses arising from work related injuries and/or illnesses. These injuries include those that have been sustained by an employee at his/her place of work or due to his/her work, and will not result in an increase in the premiums of the policies.
Dr. Michael Bitzer, Chief Executive Officer of Daman, commented on the circular issued by HAAD and its impact on Daman customers: “We were quick to act following HAAD’s announcement. By revising our policies in accordance with the new resolution, we are now able to further enhance our offerings to reach over 1.8 million of our customers in the UAE, therefore remaining at the forefront of the health insurance market.
“We’re delighted that our customers now have coverage in and outside the workplace, and that they can live healthier, and safer lives,” added Dr. Michael.
