Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) marked the “International Nutrition Week” from 28 – 31 March 2010. SKMC’s Clinical Dietetics reminded everyone that an easy way to focus on eating better is to start with the basics: build your nutritional health from the ground up.
“Our intention was to promote healthy eating habits which will improve an individual’s overall lifestyle. Exercising is also vital to keep your hearts and body as healthy”, said Ellen Edwards, Section Head of Clinical Dietetics at SKMC, and UAE Country Representative of AODA the International Affiliate of American Dietetic Association.
To mark the week, the Clinical Dietetics Department organized several activities at the hospital daily targeting patients, visitors and staff. Laila Al Hemery supervised the event that included healthy food items that were displayed, healthy school box demonstrations, child nutrition games, free consultations by registered dietitians were offered and educational pamphlets on health diets were distributed.
