A New Imaging System To be Launched by SKMC

Wam reported that Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), which is managed by Cleveland Clinic and part of the SEHA HealthSystem, announced the launch of a new imaging system called O-arm Multidimensional Imaging System the first of its kind in the Gulf Region.SKMC

The O-arm Imaging System enables neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons to view anatomy of the patient, and monitors the status during surgery. That’s due to the multi dimensional imaging (2-Dimensional, 3- Dimensional images and fluoroscopic imaging) in which the system provides. As a result, patients who undergo spinal procedures may experience less invasive surgeries, faster recovery times, and improved outcomes.

Dr. Peter Lange, Chair of Radiology explained “The O-arm offers multidimensional images in about 30 seconds, and provides surgeons with real time 2D and 3D imaging not offered by other available mobile imaging equipment.” Clyde Eder, COO, SEHA stated as a comment on this newly imaging system, “The new O-arm Multidimensional Imaging System that was launched at SKMC is one of several recent improvements in services at SEHA’s hospitals in the UAE. Adding new high-tech equipment that allows our physicians to innovate new practices and services comes in line with SEHA’s long-term goal to deliver quality healthcare to the residents of Abu Dhabi equal to the best systems in the world.” Dr. Tej Maini, CEO of SKMC added, “With its combination of technology and patient-centered focus, our new O-arm Multidimensional Imaging System is justifiably recognized as a groundbreaking installation in the region. The features of the new system at SKMC revolutionize spinal disorders treatment and procedures and help improve the procedure outcomes.”
