Dubai Heart Surgeries Web-Casted Live

In order for UAE to find itself a place on the global healthcare map, surgeons from Dubai share their expertise with the world medical community via live global web-casts of critical procedures being performed by them.

The EuroPCR Congress, one of the largest cardiology conferences in the world, chose Dubai to conduct and broadcast two live heart procedures during the conference. At Dubai Heart Center, two extremely critical cardiac procedures were successfully performed by Dr Talib Majwal, Director of Interventional Cardiology at Dubai Heart Centre on two patients at the Dubai Hospital. The first and most critical procedure is called the ‘Unprotected Left Main’, and the second is entitled ‘Complex Patient’ and telecasted to a cardiology conference in Paris yesterday. Also an ENT surgeon from American Hospital Dubai, will demonstrate a new surgical treatment pioneered by him, to fellow surgeons worldwide as part of the Live International Otolaryngology Network. “Even though both these closed heart surgeries are extremely difficult procedures, the techniques we use are straightforward, swift and safe. The patient does not need anaesthesia and he is awake during the procedure that is over in a short time. After a couple of hours, the patient can resume his work.” Dr Talib Majwal said. “In the first procedure we put a stent in the main coronary artery to improve the flow of blood to the rest of the heart. Earlier this kind of blockage to the main coronary artery was removed by bypass surgery, now we don’t have to open up the patient anymore and just do angioplasty. In the second procedure called the Complex Patient, we treat the blockage in the two major arteries that branch out of the main coronary artery at the same time with a much less invasive procedure. The congress wants us to showcase our techniques as we have achieved a lot of expertise in this field. These procedures are not rare at our centre; they are being executed on a weekly if not a daily basis and we have a very high and consistent success rate.”

Dr Muaaz Tarabichi, an ENT surgeon at the American Hospital Dubai, will operate on a patient suffering from cholesteatoma will also perform during today’s live demonstration.
