Mayor Adel Fakieh conducted a field tour in order to inspect ongoing efforts to fight dengue fever in the city.
He visited many houses in Al-Jamia district and supervised the spraying of insecticides to exterminate disease-carrying mosquitoes.
Fakieh said the cooperation of citizens was essential to reduce growing dengue cases in the city.
He disclosed that the Ministry of Finance would support the annual spraying of insecticides at homes in affected areas.
The mayor attributed the rise in dengue cases during the past four months to the seasonal increase in mosquitoes.
He denied reports that there were conflicts between officials of government departments during a meeting at the municipality’s headquarters on Saturday. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed to find out the reasons for the increase in dengue cases.
