Expanding Hospital In Kuwait To Expand Capacity

On Tuesday The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced its plan for establishing nine towers to be built annexed to 16-6-2010a number of general and specialized hospitals including Al-Sabah, Al-Razi, Al-Amiri, Ibn Sina, Al-Adan, Al-Jahra, and Al-Farwaneya hospitals, as well as Hussain Makki Juma Center for Specialized Surgeries, at the cost of USD 160 million. The capacity in the country’s hospitals recently increased to 1,000 beds, distributed among Al-Farwaneya, Al-Jahra, Al-Adan, and Mubarak Al-Kabeer hospitals, upon the instructions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

In a meeting, between the ministry representatives and a number of consulting offices over the project, they discussed – according to Ministry Undersecretary for Services and Maintenance Sameer Al-Asfour – specifics of the new towers, including medical equipments, number of beds and services needed for their operation. The towers will increase the number of operating rooms to 70, and the number of beds in intensive care units to 90 beds. As well as increasing the number of outpatient clinics, improving the services related to x-rays, laboratories, sterilization units, and medical records, in addition to developing a center for disasters and emergency and an isolation ward with a capacity of 90 beds.
