A new Agreement To Set Up The king Abdullah Center For Tumor And Liver Diseases

tumor centerThe king Abdullah Center for Tumor and Liver Diseases will be established at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, (KFSHRC).Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, the Health minister, stated yesterday, “We are thankful to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for having magnanimously agreed to call the new facility after his name,” and he stressed the will of the king to set it up quickly.

This center is a part of a great strategy to deal with liver diseases and heal tumors. It’s potential cost is SR906 million, it will consist of 21 floors on an estimated area of about 32,000 squares meters ,including  beds to host the patients of the Kingdom.Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said, “We have already started making plans for the center, which will be equipped with most advanced medical facilities. It will benefit both Saudis and expatriates.”

On Saturday, The agreement of such establishment was signed with a local company, when the minister was attended. The minister said that the company will start the building immediately, stressing that it will reduce the number of people travelling abroad for treatment, saving cost and time.He also added “We hope to fix state-of-the-art medical equipment that is found in North America and Europe to the new center.”
The present KFSH tumor center is receiving around 3,000 cancer patients per year. That number is expected to be increased by 2020 to 14,000.

The minister stressed,” We have our own local resources that are efficient to handle such patients”. He also added that the centre will have a graet opportunity for acquiring Saudi youth educated under King Abdullah Scholarship Program which will grow the demand for local human resources.Dr. Qassim Al-Qasabi, chief executive officer of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center , said” The King Abdullah Center will be a focal point for research, training and excellence in clinical services.”
