Ministry of Health In Saudi Arabia Advices Pilgrims To Avoid Diseases.

pilgrimsDr. Mahmoud Fikri, Executive Director for Health Policies at the Ministry of Health, reported that the UAE Ministry of Health has declared that the required conditions ascertained by the health authorities for and Umrah in this year. The health procedures designed by were to ensure the security and safety of pilgrims from infectious diseases.

These required that all pilgrims going for Haj, Umrah or seasonal work from any country must have a valid vaccination certificate against meningitis but on a condition that the vaccination should be given 10 days before arrival to Saudi Arabia. Dr Fikri explained “The ministry will provide a quadrilateral dose of the vaccine for adults and children of more than two years of age, We also recommend that Haj pilgrims should take the seasonal influenza vaccination especially those having chronic diseases related to heart, kidney, respiration, nerves and diabetes, as well as congenital diseases, acquired immune deficiency and metabolic diseases”.

Dr Fikri noted that pregnant females and obese individuals should take this precaution; he mentioned that the ministry would offer brochures about methods to avoid infectious diseases. Dr Fikri reported “Saudi Arabia also asks all pilgrims not to carry foodstuff unless they are sealed or put in easily opened containers so that the officials can preview their contents especially those foodstuffs that come through long distance by land, We also recommend that Haj pilgrims should take the seasonal influenza vaccination…”
