80 More Ambulances Are Added To Home Healthcare Program

Saudi Arabia ambulance-cars.The Saudi Ministry of Health has added to its a fleet of 80 more . Mansour Al-Hawasi mentioned that the program was released in 2008, serves for about 5,000 patients who noticed that it has been very hard to travel to the nearest health facilities. Moreover, He referred that chronic diseases accounted for a quarter of the total cases treated by the home health-care program.

Al-Hawasi referred that diseases concerned strokes, trauma and nerves accounted for a third, psychiatric and neurological diseases 18%, followed by age-related diseases at 12% and wounds, diabetic-related diseases and bed sores at 18%.

In addition, He also explained that “Cancer cases are the lowest in the scale at two percent”. The deputy minister reported that the existing fleet of ambulances has another 80 state-of-the-art vehicles following instructions from Dr. Abullah Al-Rabeeah, Health Minister, who is interested in serving home-based patients in a satisfactory method.

Supervisor general of the program, Dr. Naser Al-Hazeem noted that it offers other services for instance palliative care for cancer patients and those with chronic diseases, besides improved renal and cardiac cases. He mentioned the goal of the program is to decrease the number of such patients at emergency rooms in different health facilities in the Kingdom.

Al-Hazeem also noted that “Our qualified medical team visiting homes provide curative, preventive and rehabilitative treatment and educate the patients on their ailments”.
