A Plan To Increase The Number Of Saudi Doctors In The Kingdom’s Health Facilities.

medical collegesIt was announced by the Saudi minister of the higher education that the ministry will set up and hospitals at all the kingdom government universities.

He said, “We have already started work on some of these university hospitals and contracts will be awarded within a few days to implement the rest of the university hospital projects. Their aim is to increase the number of Saudi physicians and medical consultants while providing them with advanced training.  

Prof. Yassir Bahadur, chairman of the radiology department at King Abdulaziz University Medical College stressing on the importance to open medical colleges and hospitals in the universities saying, “There is a dire shortage of Saudi physicians. The population is increasing and more and more hospitals and medical centers are coming up in various parts of the country.  So we need more doctors. I take this opportunity to congratulate the minister for this smart and long-term plan” reported by the Arab News.  

 By the time the Health ministry has set up a plan to raise the number of the Saudi doctors last year at its hospitals by 2020, as a part of a great initiative, according to this plan it is expected that the number of the doctors will be 25, 858 Saudi doctors (50.4 percent of the total) within the next 10 years.

And to encourage doctors, it has announced to raise the consultants salaries by 30%, deputy doctors 16 %, resident doctors 15 %, consultant specialists 41 %, senior specialists 25 % and specialists 10 %.
