Increasing Number Of Mental illness Patients In Dubai

mental illness and depression in DubaiA senior health official said that the number of people suffering from mental health problems has been increasing lately in , and there is a great need for trained doctors to deal with such issues.

The director of primary healthcare at the Ministry of Health, Dr Mona Al Kuwari,  said about the reason of this increasing number is lack of sleeping or drug abuse and everyday stress, she added,” They need to be treated at the center itself instead of being sent to tertiary centers.” People suffering from usually complain from physical issues like headache, stomach pains and of course low mood.

When Mona was asked by journalists on the sidelines of the First UAE Conference on Mental Health in Primary Care, which has attracted a number of psychiatrists and psychologists from across the Arab World, that there is a lack in experts who can handle the mental health and depression issues in schools and colleges, she answered that for this reason primary health centers are training doctors to move some of the burden from hospital backs.

Dr Mahmoud Fikri, executive director of health policies at the health ministry, has stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) predicted that will be one of the main causes of deaths and disabilities in the world by 2020.
