A Health Collaboration Agreement Between Qatar And Egypt

egyptian doctors has entered into a with which will see the establishment of a training program. HE Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani, the Minister of Health and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) met the minister of Egypt who is on a visit to Qatar.

The meeting discussed bilateral ties between Qatar and Egypt in different fields, especially those related to medical and healthcare services. The two ministers attended the signing of health collaboration agreement signed by the director of primary healthcare centers on Qatari side, Mariam Abdul Malik and Director of the National Ophthalmology Center on the Egyptian side, Dr Essam El Toukhy.

According to the agreement, a training program for the Egyptian healthcare experts looking for jobs in Qatar has been put up. Significantly, Egyptian technical, administrative and medical manpower, seeking employment chances in Qatar should benefit from a training program targeted at improving their professional skills according to Qatar’s requirements in different health disciplines.

Dr Mariam Abdul Malik, Acting Director General of the Primary Health Department mentioned that “The main purpose of the program is to train selected Egyptian doctors to work in Qatar. The program is six months long and Qatari officials will constantly check the training program. Prior to the agreement, some 15 doctors and three technicians were trained. For the next batch, starting in March, some 35 doctors have taken admission and they will be trained to work in Primary Health Centers specializing mainly in family medicine and general medicine.”

Al Qahtani reported that “The meeting also dealt with enhancing bilateral ties on investment opportunities in Egypt in the pharmaceutical industry and others. Qatar is keen to take advantage of Egypt’s experience in health insurance and pharmaceutical industries”.

Finally, the Egyptian health minister noted that the meeting was a chance to exchange views on different issues of mutual concern and follow up what has been agreed during the last meeting in Cairo and the agreement reflected keenness to improve bilateral cooperation.
