MoH In UAE Follows New Policy In Drug Control

MoHAl Khaleej‘ newspaper released a report telling that Ministry of Health will obtain online inventory of international medical products sold in the beginning from the first quarter in 2011. “The Drug Control Authority’s website will electronically publish the data of medicines. This step aim to minimize the use of papers” said Dr Amin Assistant Undersecretary, Medical Practices and Licensing, Ministry of Health.

Only nine local factories producing 164 medicines are supervised by . Al Amiri added that a total of 8,400 brands of drugs have been registered in the country. In order to import drugs from abroad, MoH are supervising about1, 400 pharmacies in different emirates, including 14 in government hospitals and 199 medical repositories.

To promote medical products in supermarkets the MoH has adopted a new policy. They use certain methods such as updating the ministry every three months of their stock.
