New Cooperation to Train Medical and Nursing Staff in Syria

RobertOn Monday, Syrian Minister of Higher Education, Ghiath Barakat, and a delegation from in Paris had a discussion to sign a memorandum of understanding () on training medical and nursing staff. MOU also highlighted procedures required to open the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Children Hospital. Minister Barakat stressed the Ministry’s goal to cooperate with international scientific centers so that one of the most important developed projects in the region can be completed.

The minister mentioned that the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit has made huge steps in terms of the appropriate infrastructure or the necessary medical equipments. He added that through utilizing modern techniques and establishing information database, the quality of medical services will be developed regarding to the importance of this project in conducting genetic research. On the other hand, Head of the Molecular Genetics Department at Robert Debré Hospital, Severine Drunat, stressed that the hospital is ready to offer required support in order to initiate this important project. He added that his hospital will work in coordination with Children Hospital to train staff working at the bone marrow transplant unit in the hospital.
