New Investments in Healthcare Sector in Oman with Starcare Health Systems

OmanNext Saturday, about RO15 million will be invested to improve healthcare services in in the next couple of years by Starcare Health Systems Ltd. 150-bed hospital along with ten polyclinics and a chain of 15 pharmacies will be included in the plan hoping to make Omanis and expatriates less dependent on hospitals abroad.

Dr Sadik Kodakat, chairman at the Starcare Hospital, answered when asked about the reason behind the investment “We have done a feasibility study of the healthcare sector in Oman. The study showed that while there are enough medical centers in the country and the outpatient care is quite good, there is a need to improve the inpatient care”.

Primary and secondary care in all categories will be provided through the 50-bed hospital in certain regions. The hospital will also contain an intensive care unit, three operating theatres, maternity ward and 24-hour pharmacy. Kodakat added “We look to set new benchmarks in the private healthcare sector combining legendary Omani hospitality with Western quality control, all at affordable cost”. In the next two-to-four years, another hospital in the Seeb area will be built by the company, according to Vidya Rani, senior manager business development at Starcare Hospital.
