Trials to Correct Violations in Health Sector across Jordan

AmmanIn order to correct violations committed by service providers in health sector across , the Ministry of Health recently formed a committee to oversee the Kingdom’s medical tourism sector as Minister of Health Abdul Latif Wreikat revealed. The Arab patients are complaining from private sector hospitals as they are taking advantage of them by offering treatment for health conditions that they do not have specialists for. The minster said “Arab patients are our guests and should be provided with the best services”, adding that morning and evening inspection campaigns will be delivered in private hospitals to monitor violations.

These campaigns will include members from the ministry, the Jordan Medical Association, Tourism Police, social workers, nurses and pharmacists. He commented “They will ask patients about the services and if they have any complaint, and they will also check on patients before they are discharged to check if they received the required medical care. Jordan’s medical sector has a good reputation worldwide and we will not allow anyone to ruin this reputation”. Each year 240,000 patients from across the world receiving treatment at the Kingdom’s hospitals making the medical tourism sector generates $1 billion on average.
