Attempts to Decrease Number of Cholesterol Patients across KSA

JeddahA new study included 5,457 Saudi patients suffering from high was submitted by the Saudi Heart Association. The study’s purpose is examining the treatments provided to patients and their effectiveness and providing standards for treatment of the disease in all hospitals. This study is a result of the last increase in cases of cholesterol victims around the world and in the Kingdom, with 54 percent of the Saudi population suffering from high cholesterol levels. Excessive eating of unhealthy food, few physical activities, and neglecting to check the level of cholesterol while doing general checks are factors that led to this percentage as mentioned Dr. Khalid Al-Nimr, head of the Saudi Heart Association.

He advised patients with high cholesterol levels to follow a healthy diet and do some sport activities in addition to decrease their cholesterol levels by strictly sticking to the medications prescribed to them by doctors. In fact, this study will highlight the used treatment procedures and how much these methods suit the international medical standards. Also through this step awareness about failing to control high levels of cholesterol will raise among patients who must change their lifestyle. Al-Nimr revealed that during the international conference for heart diseases held this week by the American Heart Association; results of the survey will be shown and discussed.
